Our Client, the Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES), represents both brand name manufacturers and retailers of electronics products and is responsible for regulated end of life recycling in the province. The program has grown dramatically since inception and dictates a need for a seasoned logistics professional to oversee the effectiveness and integrity of the process which currently involves some $80 million in expenditures. This robust growth is likely to continue in the near term.

The Executive Director will deploy, inspire and motivate a team of some 35 employees executing operational work as well as oversee contracts with various third party vendors, including collection depot operators, transporters, consolidators and primary processors.

Qualified candidates will be achievement oriented team players with relevant business education and at least five to ten years combined experience in senior management roles in distribution, collection or recycling logistics operations. Experience in regulated industries dealing with government and comfort in a public spokesperson role would also be very desirable.

Superb written, verbal and listening communication skills as well competence in the use of business office and decision support software are mandatory.

Controller, Coquitlam B.C.

Our client, Wastech, employing some 150 people, operates a major landfill site located in Cache Creek and manages five transfer stations in British Columbia. Using these facilities, the company directs the logistics of the disposal or recycling of household and construction waste on behalf of Metro Vancouver. Other related companies in the Belkorp Group sell commercial waste processing equipment and provide environmental consulting services. Due to the imminent retirement of a long term employee, Wastech seeks a designated accountant capable of both of moving the organisation forward and moving forward within the organisation. www.wastech.ca www.belkorp.com

Reporting to Wastech’s General Manager, the Controller will direct the efforts of a close knit accounting group consisting of some seven staff and be responsible for all aspects of the financial reporting function including receivables, payables, payroll, budgeting, cost and operational accounting as well as financial statement presentation and consolidation. The Controller will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Belkorp corporate accounting group and will assist in audit related issues as well as reporting and variance analysis of key reporting indicators and business metrics. The Controller will also be required to attend and contribute to key management meetings of stakeholders, key customer representatives and vendor groups.

The position will appeal to qualified accountants who have at least five years experience in accounting and financial reporting gained in either public practice and/or in a hands role in financial aspects of industrial operations. They will also possess hands on skills in business pro forma software, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have strong technical expertise in financial statement preparation. Program Manager, Manitoba

Our Client, Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA), represents both brand name manufacturers and retailers of electronic products and is responsible for regulated end of life electronics recycling in the province.The program has recently been mandated by the provincial government and will include recycling a wide range of electronic items. This creates the need for a Program Manager to oversee the effectiveness and integrity of the process which will involve some $1 to $5 million in annual expenditures, including a consumer awareness marketing program. Reporting to a Regional Director, , the Program Manager in Manitoba will be responsible for operational work and contracts with various third party vendors, including collectors, transporters, consolidators and primary processors.

Qualified candidates will be achievement oriented team players with relevant business education and at least five years experience in a management role in distribution, collection or recycling logistics operations ideally coupled with knowledge of regulated and stewardship entities. Superb written, verbal and listening communication skills as well competence in the use of business office and decision support software are also essential.
